Reason For the Replacement
Mr S. was constantly having to reset his Viessmann boiler because it was showing a F2 fault code. He contacted us to carry out a boiler repair, upon inspection we found that the hoses to the heat exchanger were blocked, which is quite a common issue with these boilers. We discussed the issue and explained that it was quite a labour intensive repair. Then offered him a quote to carry out the repair and a new boiler quote. Mr S. chose to replace the boiler and the boiler he chose was the Worcester 4000 25Kw with a manufacturer backed 10 year guarantee.
What GGB Heating Solutions Recommended?
During the repair visit we offered the customer the two prices to either repair or replace the boiler. The customer chose the new boiler replacement. We advised to upgrade his existing filter and controls to Worcester’s own brand which give him the full 10 year guarantee across all the Worcester products fitted with the boiler. We noticed that the condensate pipe hadn’t been installed to current standards and needed up grading and due to the issue being sludge related we included a power flush to further protect Mr S.’s new boiler.
The Boiler Installation
Day 1:
When we arrived, we started by protecting the customer’s property with dust sheets. We then carried out the initial safety checks before removing the existing Viessmann boiler.
We installed the new Worcester Bosch boiler, replaced the controls, fitted the new Worcester filter, shock arrestor and scale reducer, and upgraded the condensate pipe.
Once the boiler was installed, running and tested, we added central heating system cleaner and advised the customer to run the heating overnight ready for the power flush the following day. Before leaving, we cleaned and tidied the working area.
Day 2:
As with day one, we protected the customer’s property with dust sheets before setting up the power flush machine.
Once the machine was set up, we brought the central heating temperature up and started flushing the system. We isolated the radiators one by one, leaving one open at a time, and flushed each radiator individually. Each radiator was agitated until the water was running clear.
Once the flush was complete, we added inhibitor to help protect the heating system. We then balanced the radiators and range rated the heating side of the boiler to better match the size of the property. This helps the boiler run more efficiently when heating the home, instead of firing harder than necessary.
We then checked the full installation, filled any holes, made good anything we had touched, and cleaned the working areas.
After everything was completed, we talked the customer through how to use their new boiler and how to top up the pressure if needed.
That same day, we completed the boiler registration with Worcester and notified the local authorities.
The Results
No more fault codes when the heating and hot water is on, instant hot water, and all radiators warmed up quickly and evenly with no more cold spots. This gave Mr S. a cleaner, better-protected heating system that should run more efficiently than the old setup, with the added reassurance of a 10-year Worcester-backed guarantee.
